HOW DOES SOLAR POWER WORK?
Solar panels generate power from the sun’s rays. The power then goes through the inverter to convert it from DC power, to AC power, which is what the
majority of our appliances run on.  You will have a new electricity meter installed, which then measures both the power you generate, and the power that
you are using.
We can discuss with you about what you want to achieve when installing a solar power system. We will also look at your power bill and advise how much
power various sized power systems will produce for you, and what incentives you may be eligible for.  You can either have a system that will generate
a component of your power requirements, or you can have a system that will produce all your requirements. 

SOLAR INCENTIVES (STC)

There are incentives available to people with a small generation power system.
There are incentives for residents and businesses alike, to install grid connected solar systems.

the Solar Credit rebate is available to householders and small business owners, for installing small renewable energy power generators. This can consist of
either solar, wind, hydro, or a combination of these systems. The scheme is based on Small Technology Certificates (STC) which are a tradable commodity,
therefore, prices can fluctuate. The value of the STC is determined by supply and demand, as with the share markets.

The Federal Government Incentive, is the Solar Credits Multiplier. This multiplier is on a sliding scale:

2011-12 = multiplier x 3
2012-13 = multiplier x 2
2013-14 = multiplier x 1

FEED IN TARIFF (FIT)

Most States have a feed in tariff. A feed in tariff is where the electricity companies recognise you for the power that your system is producing, by way of credit.
FITs vary from State to State. They can be a 1:1 ratio (they pay you the same as you pay them), or they can be less, or more. Most states and territories however,
have introduced what is called a Premium feed in tariff, which is their best offer.
There are also 2 ways in which your power can be measured: Net and Gross.
NET: Once your household has used the power generated by your system, the excess is exported to the grid, and you are paid on the excess.
GROSS: You are paid for ALL the power generated by your system.This is the more lucrative, and has proven very popular in some European countries.-
